Cooperating Agents: Language Support and Load Distribution

چکیده

This paper presents a new language concept for the support of application integrated load distribution. Load distribution is realized by assigning tasks to cooperating agents and also by migrating agents from overloaded to underloaded processes. Flexible and portable implementation of load distribution mechanisms is achieved by user implemented move and restart tasks. The paper describes the new programming model and presents language constructs realizing this model. A program example shows the usage of the new language constructs and demonstrates easy implementation of load distribution using the new concept.

Coordination, Differentiation and Fairness in a Population of Cooperating Agents

In a recent paper, we analyzed the self-assembly of a complex cooperation network. The network was shown to approach a state where every agent invests the same amount of resources. Nevertheless, highly-connected agents arise that extract extraordinarily high payoffs while contributing comparably little to any of their cooperations. Here, we investigate a variant of the model, in which highly-co...

Integration of Load Distribution into ParMod-C1

The major part of environments for parallel programming in distributed systems either neglects load distribution support or realizes load distribution by the trivial task farming paradigm. This paper presents new language concepts for the support of application integrated load distribution. In addition to the task farming approach, the system can also dynamically migrate objects. Active objects...

Is It Worth Involving Several Cooperating Agents for Multimedia User's Admission in Cellular Networks?

In this paper, we enhance our multi-agent system for resource management developed for cellular mobile networks. The new scheme allow agents to dynamically adapt to changes in the network load in order to maintain a target call dropping probability. We investigate the impact of the number of neighboring agents involved in a call admission decision in addition to the agent receiving the call req...

MobiliTools: An OMG Standards-Based Toolbox for Agent Mobility and Interoperability

One of the keys to success for applications of mobile and/or intelligent agents in large-scale open systems such as Internet is the ability of heterogeneous agents to cooperate and negotiate, and meet if they are mobile. This heterogeneity support requires the adoption of standards at the underlying distributed system level to support interoperability in agent management, mobile agent transport...

Network characteristics emerging from agent interactions in balanced distributed system

A distributed computing system behaves like a complex network, the interactions between nodes being essential information exchanges and migrations of jobs or services to execute. These actions are performed by software agents, which behave like the members of social networks, cooperating and competing to obtain knowledge and services. The load balancing consists in distributing the load evenly ...
